Lange 1, 38.5 mm
A. Lange & Söhne · Glashütte, Germany
Why it matters
Every Lange is assembled, regulated, then taken apart and assembled again. The off-centre dial has not changed since 1994 because it did not need to. At 38.5 millimetres it sits under a cuff without announcing itself, and the movement — three-quarter plate, hand-engraved balance cock — rewards the man who turns it over once a year and no more often than that. It is made to be worn daily, and to close the question of watches for the man who wears it.
